Bison Trails Announces Support for Celo Platform

Published at: May 7, 2020

Bison Trails has announced support for the Celo open network, which enables smartphone users to send crypto directly to a phone number instead of a blockchain address.

The added support means that users will be able to transfer value using Celo's stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar on the Bison Trails platform.

Aaron Henshaw, co-founder and CTO of Bison Trails told Cointelegraph:

“Bison Trails has strong relationships with the Celo team: we’re members of the Celo Alliance for Prosperity and are very familiar with Celo’s progress from working closely with their team since the earliest days of the protocol’s development. We have a unique perspective on the Celo protocol and ecosystem.”

Celo’s integration to strengthen the security of the network

The Celo tech system has three layers: Celo Blockchain, Celo Core Contracts, and Application.

Henshaw praised Celo’s initial design choice, which uses Earned Value Management (EVM) (software based on the concept of assigning and earning values for projects)  and the Go-Ethereum protocol for their underlying node system.

Henshaw said the integration of Celo onto the Bison Trails platform will help secure and strengthen the network:

“We aim to set the standard for security, reliability, and quality on the Celo network with the validators and groups that we run. Our infrastructure platform easily spins up nodes in multiple cloud providers and regions for our customers. We diversify Celo’s block production infrastructure which strengthens the network.”

Other protocols supported

Bison Trails has also announced support for Solana, which is an open-source project that implements permissionless blockchain technology as well as the NuCypher protocol.

Breaking free from global liquidity silos: New technology changes the game
Economists, pundits, institutions and investors often talk about the global financial system. When stocks go up and trade thrives, they applaud its contributions to prosperity; when the markets crash and stocks dip, they blame its inhuman scale or its untrustworthy manipulators. But anyone who has attempted to diversify their portfolio with foreign stocks or acquire another nation’s bonds quickly comes to the same conclusion: The global financial system isn’t a single entity. “The system,” singular, is really “The systems,” plural. How do the pieces of the global financial system interact? Not always as well as might be hoped, as exemplified …

BitDAO launches $200M zkDAO to advance Ethereum scaling via zkSync
On Thursday, a proposal to fund decentralized autonomous organization zkDAO passed via treasury protocol BitDAO with close to 200 million votes cast. The proposal was authored by Matter Labs — the organization behind Ethereum scaling protocol zkSync — and Mirana Ventures. Utilizing zk-Rollups, zkSync and its family of technologies will build layer-2 infrastructure capable of returning succinct proofs to the Ethereum network without sending the entire data. The result, if implemented, would mean a vastly speedier network. Zero-knowledge-based solutions have attracted much attention in recent months due to recurrently high levels of congestion on Ethereum, as well as exuberant gas …

Beyond the hype: NFTs can lead the way in transforming business experiences
Many businesses and big brands have already jumped on the nonfungible token (NFT) bandwagon, including Nike, the National Basketball Association, Pepsi and even Taco Bell. But are these just for the show, or are these NFTs creating value? Much like digital services have become essential for every business in and outside of the technology sector, I believe that tokens — and, specifically, NFTs — are likely to become equally crucial in the emerging Web3 economy for at least two reasons. First, my view is that NFTs tokenize ideas at the atomistic level, creating rivalry and exclusivity around goods or services. …
