Bitcoin is the future, YouTube star KSI says

Published at: Aug. 6, 2021

Prominent YouTube star KSI belongs to the group of crypto investors who have made and lost a lot of money during the last Bitcoin (BTC) crash. However, the United Kingdom-based influencer’s latest interview showed his continued support and belief in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Answering the hypothetical question of “if you were prime minister,” KSI — aka Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji — shared his interest to “give everyone £100 worth of Bitcoin” in the form of a stimulus package. Claiming to back the crypto ecosystem, KSI said:

“I think Bitcoin is the future. It’s definitely going to be long term, but in ten years’ time, people who invested will be laughing.”

The YouTuber also contrasted fiat currency’s ongoing inflation with Bitcoin’s price owing to the traditional practice of printing money. He further strengthened this claim by stating that “you can’t increase the amount of Bitcoin and that has value.”

Previously, KSI had invested 2 million British pounds ($2.7 million) in cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, which at its peak, grew to 7 million pounds ($9.74 million). However, while disclosing the incident, he claimed to have lost it all as the digital assets “got liquidated because of the Bitcoin crash.” He added:

“This is a long-haul thing and I’m here for the journey.”

The influencer also stated that the general public cannot foresee Bitcoin’s growth potential and is following a “get in and out” strategy. Reminiscing about his previous crypto investments, KSI claims to fully understand the crypto space and blames “over leveraging” as the primary cause of his losses.

Crypto exchanges across the globe have stepped up to transform the narrative of cryptocurrency as a risky trade. One of the first steps in this direction has been to drastically reduce leveraged trading. According to Cointelegraph’s report, prominent crypto exchange FTX announced a plan to curb risky trading by reducing maximum leverage to 20x, a drop of more than 80%.

Under the pretext of responsible trading, FTX CEO and crypto billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried asserted that high leverages result in traders losing their crypto assets in their first trades. Following suit, other crypto exchanges such as Huobi Global have recently implemented restrictions on higher leverage. Binance has also imposed a limit of 20x leverage for its new users and plans to make this the norm for existing users in the future.

‘Major catalyst’ needed to send Bitcoin price to a new ATH, says analyst
The cryptocurrency market has been on a tear over the last month as Bitcoin price climbed 73% from a low of $29,200 on July 20 to a high of $50,478 on Aug. 26, a move that has warranted caution from Dan McDermitt, cryptocurrency market analyst and co-founder of TheChartGuys. According to McDermitt, Bitcoin’s relentless march over the past month was done “with a lack of weekly consolidation,” which was an impressive progression that frustrated bears as “every week is a higher low.” McDermitt is “expecting an equilibrium pattern on the monthly time frame, which is a pattern of higher lows …

Oh where, oh where have Ethereum bulls gone? Sub-$4K ETH fails to entice traders
Cryptocurrency price corrected sharply today, including Ether (ETH), but this is a short-term move which is not reflective of the more macro-level events which still paint a bullish picture for assets like Ether and Bitcoin. In the last 30 days, Ether price gained 96%, moving from $2,138 to $4,200 on May 11. Normally the assumption would be that every trader is consumed with euphoria and this would be seen in the funding rate reaching record highs on Ether futures contracts but at the moment this is not the case. The funding rate appears to have flatlined on April 18 and …

2 key derivatives metrics signal that Bitcoin traders expect BTC to hold $40K
Whenever Bitcoin (BTC) fails to break through important resistance levels, traders gain confidence and add to their altcoin positions. The logic is that, unless BTC drops significatively, these movements historically provide decent rewards for those shifting their portfolios toward higher risk. In the past seven days, the aggregate market capitalization performance of the cryptocurrency market showed a modest 3% increase to $1.78 trillion. This number is roughly in line with the performance seen from Bitcoin, Ether (ETH), and Binance Coin (BNB). However, comparing the winners and losers among the top-80 coins provides skewed results. For instance, while the gainers captured …

How long will the bear market last? Signs to watch for a crypto market reversal
The current crypto bear market has induced panic, fear and uncertainty in investors. Similarly, the values of other major cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), and Dogecoin (DOGE) have decreased by around 90%. Bitcoin bull run sparks $180K BTC price prediction ahead of institutional ‘fireworks’
Bitcoin (BTC) made traders play a guessing game on Thursday as $50,000 looked increasingly shaky as new support. Crypto seeing “spectacular” September Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView tracked BTC/USD as it crisscrossed the $50,000 barrier after returning to it for the first time in almost two weeks. The largest cryptocurrency saw 4.5% gains on the day, these nonetheless beaten by three of the top 10 altcoins, which all managed over 7%. Against a largely positive background, traders were understandably bullish on Bitcoin’s prospects. “Break above 50k = 58-60k to follow. Sitting above 200D MA which is now acting …
