Diamond retailer Since 1910 “Converted” to Bitcoin cause, Accepting BTC payments

Published at: June 23, 2014

One of the most famous jewelry online retailers “Since1910” now accepts Bitcoin. Everything starting from engagement and wedding rings, to fine jewelry and watches is now available for digital currency here.

Moreover Since1910.com store is one of the world's largest online marketplaces for designer engagement rings.

“For over 100 years, Since1910.com has been trusted by our customers to offer unsurpassed value, innovative policies and incredible customer service.  Our decision to begin accepting bitcoin was based on our customers request for this service.”

Since1910.com belongs to the Gross family that has been running couture jewelry business for five generations now. Indeed, they first opened the jewelry retail store H.L. Gross & Bro. Jewelers in Brooklyn, New York, more than a hundred years ago – in 1910. Today, the store is located in downtown Garden City, Long Island where three generations of the Gross family work together.

For some people, buying diamonds is considered an investment and loose diamonds are also available at Since1910.com and H.L. Gross & Bro. Jewelers. While diamonds have always been seen as a secure investment and a prized heirloom for centuries, bitcoins are also inching their way toards becoming an important asset class. The fact that now diamonds and Bitcoins can be exchanged for one another can be seen as step towards a truly free market.

"Our customers have asked for this and we listened. Our goal is to be constantly listening to our customers to provide the best possible user experience. We want our customers to feel like part of the team and to help shape the way Since1910.com does business," said in a press-release Brad Gross, 5th generation jeweler and Co-Founder of Since1910.com."

An interesting fact is that the well-known Bitcoin evangelist Two-Bit Idiot wrote that this was the first merchant he was able to convert to the Bitcoin cause:

“Since1910.com, which is where I picked out my wife’s engagement ring and our wedding bands," he writes. "I paid straight-cash-homie for the rock last year (pre-bitcoin), but when it came time to make the second half of the purchase for the wedding bands, I bitched about the headache of doing a bank wire through BofA to co-founder Brad Gross, and directed him to Coinbase, where he took just a couple of days to make up his mind and sign up.”

As a result, we all can buy jewelry at Since1910.com with digital currency. When choosing to buy an item, select “Bitcoin” as a payment option during check out. Then you will be taken through the already familiar for digital currency users process and the payment is complete.
