Strategic game that pits two DAOs against each other reveals when it will launch

Published at: Sept. 15, 2022

An upcoming blockchain game has revealed when it will launch.

Reta Wars is going to be available to players from Oct. 3 — and the project says it's determined to usher in a new era of GameFi.

It's a strategy "war-to-earn" game powered by NFTs, where two decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) compete strategically for revenue.

The game involves using NFT heroes to grow territory, concocting compelling strategies with fellow players, and leading their faction to victory.

Each NFT hero will have the ability to produce resources on command, or fight enemies in battle — and they'll be a crucial component of the cleverly named "Retaverse."

The launch of Reta Wars will be preceded by a pre-open sale for NFT heroes, which will be sold at discounted prices for one week from Sept. 26.

Great achievements

Those behind Reta Wars say they have taken great care to build a sustainable ecosystem — a marked departure from previous play-to-earn games that had unsustainable tokenomics.

Reta Wars has been put through its paces during a beta stage, which achieved a retention rate of more than 60%. What's more, approximately 80% of participants had positive feedback for the game.

Based in Japan, one of the centers of gaming excellence, Reta Wars is planning to make a splash at the Tokyo Game Show, which is taking place from Sept. 15-18. This event has built a reputation for being one of the world's most famous, historic and influential gaming conferences since it launched in 1996.

It's entered into a partnership with YGG Japan, the country's largest GameFi guild, to perform a series of sessions and promotions about Reta Wars — educating enthusiasts about the title's potential.

The game will initially be available in Japanese, but support for other languages will be quickly unveiled as Reta Wars begins to establish a global audience.

Plenty of momentum

Reta Wars points to high retention rates and overwhelmingly positive feedback as proof that its product will be beloved by the community.

In an announcement outlining the official launch plan, the project said: "Numerous GameFi projects are flooding this market, but we all know it’s still rare to be 'finished' with a compelling outcome. Especially in a crypto bear market like today, it’s even more difficult to complete a great project. But we had strong convictions and skills, and a clear vision."

Developers went on to criticize projects that focused too much on pre-marketing rather than actual outcomes that benefit the people who matter most: the gamers themselves.

Underpinned by a strong governance system, the team behind Reta Wars say this game is only the beginning — and it plans to add even more games to the ecosystem in time.

Staking, battle simulators, customizable skins, a bespoke marketplace and an expansion plan are all set to be unveiled by the end of this year — meaning there will never be a shortage of new content and features for players to look forward to.

Nonfungible tokens have largely been acquired as proof-of-profile pictures (PFPs) that represent a brand, embody culture or ultimately, reflect as a static status symbol. Blue-chip NFTs like Bored Ape Yacht Club or Cool Cats were not originally backed by any tangible utility other than speculative value and hype, along with the promise of an illustrative roadmap, but in 2022, investors are looking for a little bit “more.” However, nonfungible tokens are finding their use beyond branding and status symbols by attempting to build out an existence in the Metaverse and some are ambitious enough to start within it. NFTs, the metaverse, and digital ownership. These Web 3.0 terms have broken their way into mainstream consciousness. As a result, we’re seeing projects and ideas in the blockchain space looking to change the way things work. Industries like music, art and gaming are key industries experiencing a change, with gaming specifically receiving a lot of attention via a new monetization mechanism: play-to-earn (P2E). P2E promises gamers a way to earn from their in-game activities through nonfungible tokens (NFTs). Traditional games have users playing a game for hundreds of hours, having nothing to show for it when they eventually move on. …

P2E gaming is in a rut, but Axie Infinity (AXS) could rebound for 3 key reasons
Play-to-earn gaming was one of the breakout sectors of the cryptocurrency market in 2021 and the trend was led by Axie Infinity (AXS), a mobile, blockchain-based game where users collect, breed, raise and battle nonfungible tokens (NFTs) called Axies for monetary rewards. As the market topped and then entered what has become a deep bear market, AXS price retraced from an all-time high near $170 to its current price at $15.20 following several setbacks, including a $600 million hack of the Ronin sidechain that hosts the game. Currently, the future of P2E gaming remains in question and advocates are watching …

Axie Infinity cuts rewards from classic game, subtly forcing P2E players to new mode
Play-to-earn (P2E) blockchain game Axie Infinity (AXS) has completely removed the token rewards from its classic game mode to attract its users to a new game mode called Axie Infinity Origin. The Axie Infinity team announced that starting on Aug. 12, there will be no more Smooth Love Potions (SLP) to be minted on its classic mode. According to the team, the SLP rewards will be migrated to their new game mode. However, minting will be unavailable for 30 days as the team conducts a monitoring phase to search for bugs, abuses and exploits. Apart from this, the team highlighted …
