Altcoin Roundup: 3 blockchain protocols taking the supply chain crisis head-on
The world of blockchain technology has undergone a significant transformation over the past decade as the concept evolved from offering a simple means of exchange between two parties to a sprawling ecosystem full of protocols with real-world applications ranging from decentralized finance to one-of-a-kind digital art. One sector of the market that has been gaining traction as of late while the global just-in-time delivery system has fallen under immense pressure is the supply chain and logistics group of projects that offer blockchain-based solutions for the global supply chain ecosystem. While it’s true that the current problems facing global suppliers, shippers, …

Enegra migrates digitized equity tokens from Ethereum to Polygon blockchain
Enegra Group, a commodities trading firm based in Malaysia with a net asset value of $28 billion, has migrated its equity-tied EGX security tokens from to the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain from Ethereum (ETH). In 2019, Energra tokenized 100% of its equity, enabling shareholders to digitally exercise their dividend, voting, and governance rights. Both the initial tokenization and token migration were facilitated by Tokeny, an asset tokenization and compliance infrastructure provider. Matthew Averay, managing director and CEO at Enegra, said: We tokenized our equity to improve liquidity. And, now that the technology is available for faster, cheaper, and compliant transactions on …

Altcoins surge even as Bitcoin and Ethereum price fall toward key support levels
Price action in the crypto market has not been for the faint of heart over the past 48-hours and it's clear that volatility following Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether’s (ETH) breakouts to new all-time highs. While the top two cryptocurrencies fight to hold key support levels, the altcoin market has seen a handful of tokens post double-digit gains on Nov. 5 and Cointelegraph Markets Pro’s altseason indicator suggests the current market conditions line up with previous altseason price moves. Phoenix Global token soars by 5,600% in just four minutes — But there's a catch
It took just four minutes for a relatively unknown cryptocurrency to rise by over 5,600% as of Nov. 5, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Dubbed Phoenix Global (PHB), the token soared from $0.02057 to as high as $1.1413 Friday, with its volume surprisingly dropping from $3.79 million to around $777,680 in the same period. Nonetheless, at the core of the massive PHB pump was a token migration and a technical glitch. Fake PHB pump? In detail, Phoenix Global announced September that it would shift its enterprise decentralized application solutions from the Neo blockchain to Binance Smart Chain (BSC). In doing …

THORSwap hammers home the point: Aligned incentives are a crypto superpower
THORChain hasn’t had an easy year. After three exploits in the space of a month during the summer the protocol’s native token (RUNE) took a beating, plummeting from all-time highs over $20.00 in May to a low of around $3.50 in late July. Billed as a way to exchange crypto assets across different blockchains without an intermediary, the protocol disabled swaps completely as it looked to harden the network against exploits. With the relaunch of Ethereum swaps in late October, however, THORChain’s recovery was virtually complete — and the price of RUNE was within striking distance of the $20.00 mark …

“PlugWalkJoe” indicted for $784k cryptocurrency theft scheme
Joseph O’Connor, known in some corners of the internet as PlugWalkJoe, was indicted on an array of charges relating to a May 2019 cryptocurrency exchange hack. During the attack, he is alleged to have absconded with digital assets valued at approximately $784,000. In the criminal scheme, authorities believe O'Connor utilized SIM swap attacks (an artifice of fraud where 2FA phone calls and text messages are rerouted to a device controlled by the scammer) on three separate executives at an undisclosed cryptocurrency company to take control of their employers systems. O’Connor may have then diverted over 7 BTC, 407 ETH, 6363 …

Layer-2 and multi-chain DeFi platforms see record inflows as Ethereum fees soar
High transaction fees have been a persistent thorn in the side of investors and blockchain projects since at least 2014 when Ethereum Network co-creator Vitalik Buterin stated in reference to Bitcoin, “The ‘Internet of Money’ should not cost $0.05 per transaction. It's kind of absurd.” Fast forward to November 2021 and the simple act of approving a token so that it can be transacted on Uniswap can cost as much as $50 worth in Ether (ETH) depending on the time of day. Even layer-2 solutions, which were billed as the protocols that would help solve the fee issue, have been …

Risk Harbor set to take over decentralized insurance protocol Ozone on Terra network
Ethereum-based (ETH) decentralized finance, or DeFi, risk management marketplace Risk Harbor will soon take over control of Terra's Ozone Protocol, according to a press release published on Thursday. Ozone is a decentralized insurance mechanism that provides coverage in the event of technical failures on the Terra DeFi ecosystem. The latter is a dual-token platform that features its governance token LUNA and stablecoin Terra USD (UST), which has an exchange rate of 1:1 with the U.S. dollar. UST has no underlying USD reserves backing it. Instead, it's collateralized via an algorithm by LUNA, and users can earn rewards by using LUNA …

Hawkish Fed comments and fears of stablecoin regulation spark market sell-off
The bullish optimism seen earlier in the week was dialed back on Nov. 4 after recent comments from U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell confirmed that the central bank would soon start to taper its monetary policy of easing and bond buying. These statements appear to have kicked off a series of price decreases across the crypto market and both Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) are under pressure at the moment. Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that the price action for BTC flashed a warning when the price briefly dipped to $60,400 on Nov. 3 and currenlty …

'Privacy-preserving computing is the future,' says Secret Network's Guy Zyskind after Quentin Tarantino NFT drop
On Nov. 2, award-winning writer and director Quentin Tarantino announced he would auction off seven uncut scenes from Pulp Fiction as nonfungible tokens, or NFTs, built on the Secret Network (SCRT). The digitized assets will include the first uncut scripts of the movie, as well as secrets about the film and its creators. While the NFTs will feature public metadata, acting as a sort of front cover of the underlying digitized asset, only the NFT owner will have access to the never before seen content — a unique feature of the Secret Network. Regarding the drop, Tarantino said "Secret Network …
