The administrator of dark.fail, a website providing verified links to darknet markets, claims that exchanges are unfairly closing accounts donating Bitcoin to the service after implementing a Chainalysis transaction flagging system. The admin alleged in a tweet that two donors of Bitcoin to the website had their accounts blocked by exchanges that recently implemented Chainalysis’ new KYT — or Know Your Transaction — blockchain monitoring service. WARNING: Two of my donors report that their exchanges blocked their accounts after they donated Bitcoin to me. I am a journalist! I do not commit crimes. Last year I voiced strong opposition to …
The gap is narrowing between crypto analytics providers CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko when it comes to the number of website visits each receives per month. According to a Dec. 1 report from news outlet The Ken, CoinGecko had 20.6 million monthly desktop and mobile visitors as of October, compared with CoinMarketCap’s 29 million. These numbers represent a 135% increase in site traffic for the Singapore-based firm since May, when CoinMarketCap drew four times as many visitors as the competitor. While both websites saw small peaks in traffic during July, CoinMarketCap has not significantly widened the gap since Binance acquired the site …
The price of Bitcoin (BTC) was rejected by the $19,500 resistance level yet again on Dec. 4, with traders becoming increasingly uncertain about what's next for BTC/USD. Bitcoin rally keeps stalling at $19,500 Some foresee the dominant cryptocurrency undergoing a consolidation phase or another minor correction in the near term, particularly as the U.S. dollar is showing signs of a possible recovery. Others, however, expect the crucial $18,500 support level to hold, which would likely set up BTC to retest the key $20,000 level and a new all-time high in the near future. In the short term, traders generally foresee …

Michelson pointed out a huge discrepancy between SEMrush’s data and Google Trends, a popular tool for analyzing the popularity of top search …
In the 11 years since the inception of the crypto industry, malicious parties have used digital assets for a spate of illegal activities, from drug payments to money laundering. Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis is launching a new service to help authorities track, custody and sell cryptocurrencies associated with crime after their capture. The firm calls the initiative its Asset Realization Program. "Chainalysis created an end-to-end solution for track and trace, pre-seizure planning, handling, storing, realising, and monitoring assets seized by law enforcement," Chainalysis' general manager of the European, Middle Eastern and African region, Duncan Hoffman, told Cointelegraph. Twitter analyst CryptoWhale teased a new model for Bitcoin (BTC) on June 2, which claims to use quantum analysis to predict future price. The Fermions Flows, or FF, Whale Model forecasts a bottom in 2021 followed by a bull-run starting in 2022. Is quantum physics related to Bitcoin? Fermions, after which the model is named, are subatomic particles which follow Fermi-Dirac statistics and generally have a half odd-integer spin. Fermi-Dirac statistics describe a distribution of particles over energy states in systems consisting of many identical particles, where none of the particles can occupy the same quantum state simultaneously. It is …
Today marks the 10th anniversary of Bitcoin's first official commercial purchase. On May 22, 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz completed the first documented commercial Bitcoin purchase, paying 10,000 for two Papa John's pizzas. Valued at $41 at the time, current market pricing today gives the purchase a $92.5 million price tag. One might logically wonder what happened to the 10,000 Bitcoin (BTC) used for the purchase of two pizzas. "Over the years the funds have moved across many addresses," Grant Blaisdell, co-founder and CMO of blockchain analytics company Coinfirm, told Cointelegraph in an email. Some BTC went to a now-defunct exchange, …

Regulation has taken giant leaps, venues have become more sophisticated and transparent, and institutions have begun to dip their toes in the once murky waters of crypto. Along with a reduced supply, all the conditions are perfectly aligned for a post-halving bull run, and …
