Bitcoin Pizza Day commemorates a historic event roughly 10 years ago, when coder Laszlo Hanyecz made the first commercial purchase using Bitcoin (BTC). One of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in Japan and one of the biggest Bitcoin brokers worldwide just announced their blockchain arm would be starting consulting services to address requests from new businesses on blockchain technology. BitMEX Ends Year With Additional 13K BTC in Its Insurance Fund, Up 61%
The BitMEX Insurance Fund has added nearly 13,000 BTC in 2019, reaching a total of just over 33,491 BTC as of Dec. 30. This is equivalent to 0.19% of the total Bitcoin in circulation, based on the data available at Blockchain.com. Japanese commercial giant Sumitomo Corporation has partnered with a sister company of local cryptocurrency exchange bitFlyer to launch a blockchain real estate business.
