Grayscale parent firm DCG to expand GBTC buy limit by $500M
Digital Currency Group, the parent company of digital asset manager Grayscale Investments, is now authorized to purchase up to $750 million worth of shares of Grayscale Bitcoin Trust. The company announced Monday that DCG increased its prior authorization to buy up to $250 million worth of GBTC shares by an extra $500 million. The share purchase authorization does not obligate DCG to acquire any certain amount of shares in any period, and it may be expanded, modified or discontinued at any time, DCG noted. Time magazine names two crypto firms in Top 100 ‘Most Influential Companies’ list
Time Magazine continues to warm up to crypto, naming Digital Currency Group and Coinbase in its 2021 Top 100 Most Influential Companies list. Published on Tuesday, the Top 100 emphasized the impact that the two crypto giants have made over the past 12 months. The list consisted of five different categories — Pioneers, Leaders, Innovators, Titans and Disrupters. Bitcoin miner Blockcap closes $75M investment led by Off The Chain, Foundry Digital
Blockcap, one of North America’s fastest-growing Bitcoin (BTC) mining companies, has secured sizable investments from some of crypto’s biggest names, setting the stage for significant expansion in the year ahead. Off The Chain Capital and Foundry Digital, a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group, contributed to the $75 million haul, Blockcap announced Wednesday. The funding will go toward scaling the company’s mining operations and promoting the continued growth of digital assets in the United States. Digital Currency Group's crypto mining arm enters top 10 global mining pools
Foundry, a wholly owned cryptocurrency mining subsidiary of Digital Currency Group, or DCG, has entered the top 10 largest Bitcoin (BTC) mining pools in the world. The firm's CEO, Barry Silbert, announced the news on Tuesday, predicting that Foundry will soon break into the top five mining pools list. At publishing time, Foundry has a total hash rate of 2.74 exahashes per second, according to data from block explorer BTC.com. The mining pool is responsible for 1.85% of the total global hash rate. What would an initial public offering for Digital Currency Group, or DCG, look like? Analysts at digital analytics firm Messari believe they have the answer. DCG’s Foundry to finance Bitmain customers in North America
China’s crypto mining giant Bitmain has entered a new partnership to streamline its operations in North America. As Bitmain officially announced on Sept. 10, the company has officially partnered with Foundry, a wholly-owned crypto mining subsidiary of major cryptocurrency firm, Digital Currency Group, or DCG. Within the partnership, Foundry will provide financing to Bitmain’s end customers in North America. Digital Currency Group acquires cryptocurrency exchange Luno
One of the largest organizations investing in blockchain companies, Digital Currency Group, or DCG, has acquired the British multinational cryptocurrency exchange Luno. DCG first bought a stake in Luno by investing in the exchange’s seed round in 2014. Since then, the exchange has spread its roots across 40 countries and currently boasts of more than five million registered users on its platform.
