Ribbon Finance gains 60% after V2 launch and Avalanche integration
Decentralized finance (DeFi) was one of the breakout sectors of the cryptocurrency market in 2021 and stands poised to continue to facilitate the mass adoption of cryptocurre in 2022. This comes as institutional and retail investors embrace the emergence of Finance 2.0. One DeFi project that has kicked off the year with a bullish start is Ribbon Finance (RBN), a protocol that utilizes financial engineering to create structured products such as automated options strategies. These are designed to provide users with sustainable yields over time. Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that since trading at a low of …

Here's why Ethereum traders could care less about ETH's current weakness
Since hitting an all-time high at $4,870 on Nov. 10, Ether (ETH) price has been posting lower lows over the past 50 days. If this downtrend continues, the lower trendline support suggests that the altcoin will bottom at $3,600. Still, derivatives data is signaling that pro traders are not concerned about the seemingly bearish market structure. Notice how the price peaks are getting lower on the 12-hour time frame as mounting regulatory concerns drive investors away from the sector. In a press conference on Dec. 17, Russia's Central Bank governor, Elvira Nabiullina, stated that banning crypto in the country is …

Regulatory fears put a damper on Ethereum traders’ $5,000 target
This week Ether (ETH) price came within 2% of its all-time high, and on Dec. 2 the altcoin reached its highest price in Bitcoin (BTC) terms since May 2018. Ether hitting 0.0835 in its BTC pair represents a 229% gain for 2021, but Ether bulls might come out empty-handed from this Friday’s $680 million options expiry. Notice the ascending channel formation initiated in mid-October, which likely reflects the network’s $177 billion total value locked in smart contracts (TVL). Moreover, Ether's ETH 2.0 beacon chain balance reached an 8.45 million high, which is a 4.5% increase in November. Last week, four …

Kelly Strategic Management files for Ethereum futures ETF
Denver-based investment firm Kelly Strategic Management has filed for an exchange-traded fund (ETF) offering exposure to Ethereum (ETH) futures contracts. The move comes just three months after VanEck and ProShares suddenly withdrew their ETH futures ETF applications on the same day in August. According to a Nov. 29 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Kelly Ethereum Ether Strategy ETF will invest in cash-settled Ether futures contracts traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). Bloomberg’s Senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted on Twitter today that Kelly’s Ether ETF may have a slim 20% chance of getting approval, …

Ethereum bulls likely to profit $130 million on ETH options despite two-week slump
Ether (ETH) investors have no reason to complain after the 344% gains accumulated in 2021 until Nov. 24. Still, analysts fear that the $4,000 resistance test on Nov. 19 is forming a descending channel that aims at $3,600 by mid-December, an 18% correction from the current $4,400 price. Despite outperforming Bitcoin (BTC) by 16% in the past month alone and the ETH/BTC pair climbing to 10-week highs, Ether seems to be struggling with its own success. Users continue to complain about Ethereum gas fees, averaging over $45 over the past three weeks. However problematic that can be, it leaves no …

Traders expect Ethereum price to drop further ahead of Friday’s $550M options expiry
Ether's (ETH) 330% year-to-date gain has been largely fueled by the growth of decentralized finance and the explosion of non-fungible tokens. Proof of this comes from OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace, surpassing the impressive mark of $10 billion in accumulated trading volume. However, traders worry that the 15% correction that followed the $4,870 all-time high on Nov. 10 could indicate that a larger bearish movement is in place. The rupture of the 55-day ascending channel reinforces this thesis and Friday's $550 million Ether options expiry will likely favor bears. Ethereum's $86 billion total value locked in smart contract contracts, represents …

Ascending channel pattern and Ethereum options data back traders’s $5K ETH target
Ether (ETH) bulls seem excited with the recent $4,870 all-time high that was hit on Nov. 10. While it was a new high in USD, ETH price is still 51% below June 2017’s price in Bitcoin (BTC) terms but it’s entirely possible that the 0.155 BTC level reached in the previous cycle reflected the overzealous expectations that were rampant during the initial coin offer (ICO) frenzy. The Ethereum network’s own success caused congestion and high fees, bringing the competition closer. For example, in mid-2017, the leading “competitors” would have been Ethereum Classic (ETC) and NEM (XEM) and combined, those represented …

Friday’s $540M Ethereum options expiry favors traders with targets at $5K
Ether (ETH) bulls are probably very pleased with the 368% gains accrued so far in 2021 and it seems like not a day passes where the altcoin doesn’t hit a new all-time high. Even with Ether on the path to $5,000, there are still plenty of concerns about the network's capability to absorb the strong demand coming from the decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible token (NFT) sector. Another potential setback laying ahead is the United States Treasury report on stablecoin regulation released on Nov 1. The report stressed the necessity of Congress to "ensure appropriate federal prudential oversight on a …

Ethereum shillers call for $5K ETH, and this time derivatives data is backing them up
Ether (ETH) pundits have been shouting that the $5,000 price is 'programmed,' since 2018 and some go even further by calling for $20,000 over the long-term. $5000 $ETH. It is programmed. — Koroush AK (@KoroushAK) October 29, 2021 A portion of these bullish calls are based on ETH 2.0 staking and the reduced inflation resulting from EIP-1559. At this time in 2017, $BTC was around $2k Just 7 months later it was almost $20k What do you think happens when the world wakes up to the APR and deflationary aspect of $ETH that is coming in less than 2 months? …

Data shows Ethereum bulls expect a new ATH after Friday’s $1.25B ETH options expiry
Ether (ETH) has gained 950% in 2021 and from the look of things the altcoin has no intent of stopping. This can also be seen in the ultra-optimistic bets for October’s $1.25 billion options expiry. However, this phenomenon is not exclusive to Ether bulls. The right to acquire Ether at a fixed price in the future does not come at a cheap price. On Sep. 4, the $5,000 call option for Oct. monthly expiry was trading at ETH 0.082 which is equivalent to $320. Unfortunately, for the bulls, these options are now worthless. Gas fees on Ethereum transactions are still …

Bulls fight to keep Ethereum price above $4K ahead of Friday’s $435M options expiry
Ether (ETH) flirted with its $4,380 all-time high on Oct. 21 but failed to breach it by a few dollars. Some analysts, including independent market analyst Scott Melker, believe that an exchange-traded fund (ETF) approval is the next logical step for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). My bet is we will see an Ethereum Futures ETF before we see a physical Bitcoin ETF. — The Wolf Of All Streets (@scottmelker) October 20, 2021 However disappointed Ether bulls might be, they are likely to score a $78 million profit on Oct. 22's options expiry. Bears were apparently caught off-guard …

This Ethereum price chart pattern suggests ETH can reach $6.5K in Q4
Ethereum's native token Ether (ETH) has rallied by more than 415% this year to over $3,800, and two major bullish patterns developing on its charts highlight the scope for another upside move, ultimately toward the $6,200–$6,500 price range. ETH price eyes $4K resistance breakout The first decisive break above the psychological $4,000-mark, which serves as a resistance trendline to a five-month-old ascending triangle and a cup and handle pattern, could trigger a textbook price rally in the coming sessions. In detail, the $6,250-level appears as the profit target for the Ascending Triangle pattern, calculated by measuring the widest distance between …
