A South Korean court ruled on Sept. 25 that the CoinOne cryptocurrency exchange must reimburse 25 million won ($20,800) to an investor after he was hacked. The United States attorney's office for the Northern District of California has indicted two suspects — Elliot Gunton and Anthony Tyler Nashatka — for hacking EtherDelta, a non-custodial marketplace for trading Ethereum (ETH) ERC-20 tokens, in December 2017. According to the documents originally filed on Aug. 13, Ganton and Nashatka changed the settings of EtherDelta’s domain name system to mislead users and collect their crypto addresses, private keys and to withdraw funds. The findings Cryptocurrency wallet ZenGo wrote the findings in a blog post published on Aug. 29. Cybersecurity company McAfee Labs has released its August 2019 threat report, which notes an increase in cryptojacking campaigns and ransomware attacks in Q1 2019. French police have shut down a massive botnet that has been used for Monero (XMR) cryptojacking. Cryptojacking backed by “massive firepower” BBC News reported the development on Aug. 27. According to the police, the botnet was distributed by sending virus-laden emails with offers for erotic pictures or fast cash, and further propogated through infected USB drives.
