Binance to restrict derivatives trading for Hong Kong users
Stepping up efforts to minimize the inherent risks of trading cryptocurrency, major crypto exchange Binance has announced it would restrict access to derivatives products to Hong Kong users. The official announcement reads: “Users from Hong Kong will have a 90 days’ grace period to close their open positions. During the grace period, no new positions may be opened.” However, Binance’s proactive means to restrict Hong Kong users was not supported by a date of when the restrictions will be imposed. Rothschild’s trust led funding round for Aspen Digital’s London expansion
Prominent British banker Jacob Rothschild’s investment firm Rothschild Investment Trust (RIT) Capital Partners partnered with New York-based Liberty City Ventures to lead pre-A funding for Aspen Digital, a crypto asset investment platform. According to an official announcement, the funding round ended up raising $8.8 million to help the Hong Kong-based company develop an institutional crypto investment platform targeted at asset managers, institutions and professional investors. South China Morning Post to tokenize 118-year-old archive with NFTs
Veteran Hong Kong-based newspaper South China Morning Post (SCMP) is creating a series of NFTs using a new token standard called “ARTIFACT,” designed to preserve historical assets on the blockchain. Meitu loses $17.3M on Bitcoin, gains $14.7M on Ether
Hong Kong tech company Meitu has taken a $17.3-million hit on its Bitcoin (BTC) holdings — but on the upside, its Ether (ETH) holdings have gained $14.7 million. The developer of popular Photoshop-style apps spent a total of $100 million on BTC and ETH between March and April this year, acquiring a total of 940.89 BTC for $49.5 million and 31,000 ETH for $50.5 million.
