CeFi interest on the wane: Will BlockFi, Ledn and Nexo rates trend lower?
Generating a yield on crypto is increasingly tricky. The Terra ecosystem implosion — where up to $50 billion was wiped out — led to a decline in decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols offering interest. At the other end of the table, centralized finance, or CeFi, where all processes are rooted through a central body, has endured a comparatively peaceful bear market, yet interest rates are trending down. On the first of the month, investors who have an account with a CeFi provider such as Ledn, Celsius, BlockFi or Nexo generally receive emails detailing the interest rate for the following month. A …

U.S. dollar index retreats from 20 year highs — But will DXY topping spark a Bitcoin recovery?
The United States dollar index (DXY) retreated broadly from its prevailing bull run in the past two weeks, dropping by up to 3.20% after hitting its two-decade high of 105. Overvaluation risks grip dollar market The U.S. dollar’s correction in the last two weeks preceded twelve months of relentless buying. To recap, the greenback’s weight against the basket of top foreign currencies grew by around 14.3% in a year, primarily as markets looked for safe havens against the fears of a hawkish Federal Reserve and, more recently, the military conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Cash balances among the global fund …

Low inflation or bust: Analysts say the Fed has no choice but to continue raising rates
As economic conditions continue to worsen, financial experts worldwide are increasingly placing the blame at the feet of the United States Federal Reserve after the central bank was slow to respond to rising inflation early on. Financial markets are currently experiencing their worst stretch of losses in recent history, and it doesn’t appear that there is any relief in sight. May 24 saw the tech-heavy Nasdaq fall another 2%, while Snap, a popular social media company, shed 43.1% of its market cap in trading on May 23. This past couple of months have been absolutely brutal for the markets… 8 …

Avalanche nears key breakdown level that could sink AVAX price by another 65%
Avalanche (AVAX) gained 0.5% to reach over $31 on May 23 but AVAX price remains trapped inside a trading range that appears like a "bear pennant" structure. Avalanche could get buried technicals Bear pennants are bearish continuation patterns, i.e., they resolve after the price breaks out of them to the downside and then—as a rule of technical analysis—falls by as much as the height of the previous downtrend, also called "flagpole." AVAX is nearing a technical breakdown as its price moves toward the pennant's apex, i.e., the point where its upper and lower trendlines converge. This paints the bearish target …

Dollar-cost averaging or lump sum: Which Bitcoin strategy works best regardless of price?
Bitcoin (BTC) has declined by more than 55% six months after it reached its record high of $69,000 in November 2021. The massive drop has left investors in a predicament about whether they should buy Bitcoin when it is cheaper (around $30,000) or wait for another market sell-off. The more you look at prior $BTC price history the more one can think it's not the bottom After 190 days from the all-time high, Bitcoin still had another 150 to 200 days until it hit bottom last couple of cycles (red box) If time is any indicator, could be another 6 …

3 reasons why Cardano can sink further despite ADA price bouncing 58%
Cardano (ADA) pared a big portion of the weekly losses incurred during this week's crypto market rout. ADA's price reached an intraday high of $0.60 on May 13, a day after rebounding from its week-to-date low of $0.38 — a 58% rally. The huge upside retracement appeared in the wake of similar price action in the crypto market with top cryptos Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) rebounding by 23% and 25.75% since yesterday's lows. But the sharp ADA recovery does not promise an extended upward continuation, at least according to the three factors discussed below. Stock market crash far from …

How long will the crypto bear market last? Raoul Pal's macro analysis
Macro investor Raoul Pal is convinced that the current crypto bear market will end only once the Fed eases its hawkish monetary policy by halting interest rate hikes. That could happen in the next couple of months, according to Pal's predictions. “The Fed are unlikely to raise rates as far and as fast as people expect. My guess is they probably stop raising rates sometime in the summer and that will be it,” he said in an exclusive interview with Cointelegraph. Pal sees the combination of high interest rates and fear of an upcoming recession as the main macro factors …

Polygon reaches level that last time triggered a 275% MATIC price rally — Will history repeat?
Polygon (MATIC) price reversed course to the upside on May 10 after testing $0.794 as its interim support, thus rising by up to 25% to $0.99. The rebound occurred a day after the token slumped over 17% to reach $0.787, its lowest level since July 2021, amid a global market crash led by the U.S. Federal Reserve's hawkish policies. MATIC price rebounded after undergoing five days of relentless declines, attracting buyers around the same support level that had preceded a 275% bull run last year. A previous retest of the $0.787-level in July 2021 and the 0.786 Fib line (near …

DOT rallies 12% in a day as Polkadot gears up to solve a major blockchain hacking problem
Polkadot (DOT) price ticked higher in the past 24 hours on anticipations that its new cross-chain communications protocol would solve a long-standing problem in the blockchain sector. DOT price gains 12% on XCM launch Bulls pushed DOT's price to $16.44 on May 5 from $14.72 a day before, gaining a little over 12% as they assessed the launch of XCM, a messaging system that allows parachains — individual blockchains that operate in parallel inside the Polkadot ecosystem — to communicate with each other. Bitcoin whale holdings at 7-month highs despite warnings of BTC price crash to $20K
Bitcoin (BTC) prices could drop by 20% in the next few months, but that has not deterred its richest investors from stacking. The amount of Bitcoin held by "unique entities" with a balance of at least 1,000 BTC, or so-called "whales," has increased to its best levels since September 2021, data on Glassnode shows. Interestingly, the number in the past week grew despite Bitcoin's price decline from $43,000 to around $38,000. Marcus Sotiriou, an analyst at GlobalBlock, a U.K.-based digital asset broker, considered the latest spike in Bitcoin whale holdings as a bullish indicator, recalling a similar move in September …

Volatile interest rates may be a thing of the past thanks to this DeFi product
The traditional finance market (TradFi) is dominated by fixed-rate loans. However, a reliable solution in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space has yet to come about. To bring TradFi portfolio managers into the DeFi industry, the issue of fixed rates needs to be solved. Many DeFi platforms claim to offer stable interest rates, but in reality, assets are so volatile that they might fluctuate from single to double digits and vice versa. This volatility makes it nearly impossible to guarantee reliable long-term earnings or control leverage regardless of whether one is a lender or a borrower. One DeFi protocol, iGain IRS …
