Cardano price risks 30% drop in Q2 despite a ‘major’ hard fork ahead
Cardano’s (ADA) price risks undergoing a severe correction in the next few months despite touting its blockchain network’s bolstering growth and a “major” hard fork event in June. Descending channel hints at ADA sell-off ahead ADA, which makes up about 1.75% of the total crypto market capitalization, has been trending lower since September 2021 inside a “descending channel” pattern that has successfully capped its multiple upside attempts, as illustrated in the chart below. The channel showed further strength as ADA broke above its upper trendline on March 27 only to reverse entirely in later sessions, showing a lack of conviction …

BoJ official says digital yen won’t be used to achieve negative interest rate
The Bank of Japan (BoJ) has said that its Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), the digital yen, will not be used to help attain negative interest rates. The BoJ’s Executive Director, Shinichi Uchida made the announcement in his most recent public speech. “While the idea of using such a functionality as a means to achieve a negative interest rate is sometimes discussed in academia, the Bank will not introduce CBDC on this ground.” Japan initially adopted negative interest rates in 2016 in an attempt to combat decades of deflation by encouraging borrowing and spending. Negative interest rates are only used …

Ethereum price 'bullish triangle' puts 4-year highs vs. Bitcoin within reach
Ethereum's native token Ether (ETH) has dropped about 17% against the U.S. dollar in the last two weeks. But its performance against Bitcoin (BTC) has been less painful with the ETH/BTC pair down 4.5% over the same period. The pair's down-move appears as both ETH/USD and BTC/USD drop nearly in lockstep while reacting to the Federal Reserve's potential to hike rates by 50 basis points and slash its balance sheet by $95 billion per month. The latest numbers released today show that consumer prices rose 8.5% in March, the most since 1981. ETH/BTC triangle breakout Several technicals remain bullish despite …

Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that the price of Bitcoin (BTC) hit an overnight low of $42,744 following the Fed remarks and has since entered a consolidation pattern near support at $43,500. ‘People should invest in all of the major layer-1s,’ says a veteran trader
Scott Melker, veteran trader and pocaster, is convinced that major layer-1 protocols should be part of everyone’s investment portfolio. Instead of picking individual crypto projects, such as NFTs or blockchain games, Melker thinks it makes more sense to bet on the blockchain infrastructure on which these projects are built. “Any of these small projects could absolutely go nuts. But you're going to have trouble choosing what they are. You should just own the layer-1 and the infrastructure that they're all built on”, he said in an exclusive interview with Cointelegraph. “You may not own a Bored Ape, but Ethereum holders …

Why the rise of a Bitcoin standard could deter war-making
Alex Gladstein, the CSO at the Human Rights Foundation, says that if Bitcoin was adopted as a global reserve currency, nation-states would be less incentivized to start wars. According to Gladstein, the U.S. was able to sustain its "forever wars" in Iraq and Afghanistan mainly by borrowing capital. That was possible largely because of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy, which has been keeping interest rates relatively low through quantitative easing. "We literally print money, we sell bonds to the open market for a promise to pay in the future and we use the income from the bond sales to pay …

Avalanche price can double by summer as AVAX's 20% weekly rally rekindles 'bull flag'
A sharp upside retracement in the Avalanche (AVAX) market this week has raised its possibilities to rise by another 100% in Q2. Avalanche chart painting a 'bull flag' The bullish outlook primarily appears in the wake of AVAX's multi-month bull flag setup, which formed after a strong price move higher to over $150, an all-time high in the Avalanche market. In detail, the setup is a downward sloping channel, denoted by two parallel trendlines against the previous trend, with volumes declining to underscore a weakening downtrend. In a perfect scenario, bull flags resolve with a breakout move above their upper …

BTC price struggles below $39K ahead of expected interest rate hike by the Fed
The blockchain community got a bit of good news on March 14 after regulators in the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs rejected a ban on proof-of-work (PoW) based cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) that would have had significant ramifications for the crypto industry. Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that despite the positive development, Bitcoin continues to trade sideways near the $39,000 level amid geopolitical uncertainty and the possibility of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike later this week. CME Fed Fund futures prices suggest that traders are pricing in a March 16 rate hike with …

Rate hikes, CPI and war in Europe — 5 things to watch in Bitcoin this week
Bitcoin (BTC) starts a new week in the shadow of a deepening geopolitical nightmare unfolding around Russia. As retaliations for the Ukraine invasion grow, and the macroeconomic consequences grow with them, crypto by and large is struggling to keep up. A curious paradox has presented itself this month: despite investors and those directly impacted by the war assumedly looking for a safe haven, that safe haven has broadly not been Bitcoin or even stablecoins. Instead, stocks, which have taken a hit thanks to sanctions and their consequences, now form a major guide for how BTC/USD performs. As such, the trend …

Terra's Anchor Protocol erases 'crypto winter' losses, ANC price rebounds 300% in a month
Anchor Protocol (ANC), a DeFi platform built on Terra blockchain protocol, rebounded nearly 300% in over a month after bottoming out near $1.26. ANC price went as high as $4.97 on the Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange on March 3, 2022, breaking above the previous record peak near $4.50 established on Dec. 3 last year. In doing so, the Anchor Protocol also erased all the losses it had incurred during what some called "crypto winter" that started in Q4/2021 — against the prospects of the Federal Reserve's aggressive rate hikes. ANC is the governance token of the Anchor Protocol's decentralized money market …

Bitcoin a 'good bet' if Fed continues easing to avoid a recession — analyst
Bitcoin (BTC) has the potential to become a "good bet" for investors if the Federal Reserve does everything it can to keep the U.S. economy afloat against impending recession risks, according to popular analyst Bitcoin Jack. The independent market analyst pitted the flagship cryptocurrency, often called "digital gold" by its enthusiasts, against the prospects of further quantitative easing by the U.S. central bank, noting that the ongoing military standoff between Ukraine and Russia had choked the supply chain of essential commodities, such as oil and wheat, resulting in higher global inflation. For instance, consumer prices in Europe jumped 5.8% year-over-year …

Analysts say bulls will aim for $48K now that Bitcoin’s ‘accumulation phase’ has begun
Investor sentiment across the cryptocurrency ecosystem has seen a significant shift in the positive direction over the past week, despite events in the wider world. Currently, Bitcoin (BTC) is back above $43,500 and many altcoins are also witnessing double-digit gains. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine and recent actions taken by governments to limit access to banking services may have helped to shine a light on the value of holding cryptocurrencies which offer some protection against uncontrollable events and what some might perceive as government overreach. Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that the price of BTC has oscillated …
