Scalability on the Ethereum (ETH) network has been a point of contention within the cryptocurrency ecosystem for years, primarily due to high fees and network congestion during periods of peak demand. The latest solution to emerge as the final fix to Ethereum’s scalability woes are Zero-knowledge rollups (ZK rollups), a form of scaling that runs computations off-chain and submits them on-chain via a validity proof. Zk rollup season — cryptowarlord.eth ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) (@CryptoWarlordd) December 7, 2021 Earlier in the year, protocols that opted to use optimistic rollups such as Optimism and Arbitrum dominated the headlines and were touted …
The Stacks ecosystem is a collection of independent entities, developers and community members working to build a user-owned internet on the Bitcoin (BTC) blockchain. Stacks’ STX cryptocurrency was distributed to the general public through the first-ever Securities and Exchange Commission-qualified token offering in the United States. Mitchell Cuevas, head of growth for the Stacks Foundation, held an exclusive ask-me-anything, or AMA, session with Cointelegraph Markets Pro users on Dec. 2. During the session, he discussed the Stacks blockchain’s technological capabilities, future growth and major developments. Cointelegraph Markets Pro User: PoW [proof-of-work] blockchains are known to be the most secure. Does …
Layer-two (L2) solutions for the Ethereum network have become a popular topic of discussion and speculation on their associated tokens backed the massive rally seen in many of the protocols this year. The parabolic growth of the decentralized finance (DeFi) and nonfungible token (NFT) sector also led to a surge in the cost carrying out simple transfers and this prompted developers and investors to migrate to L2-supportive platforms. One L2 solution that saw its token price rise to new highs earlier in the year and now looks poised to make another breakout higher is Polygon (MATIC), a proof-of-stake blockchain protocol …
Upcoming NFT based mobile role-playing game Guild of Guardians has sold out two tranches of its native token (GEMS) totaling $5.3 million. The token sale, held on Coinlist on Nov. 30 was oversubscribed 82 times, with around 808,000 users registering. More than 10,700 new GEM holders from over 100 countries purchased a maximum of $500 worth of tokens. However users from Australian, the U.S.,Canada and China were prohibited from purchasing tokens amid mounting regulatory concerns. GOG allocated 6% of the total 1 billion total tokens to the CoinList sale, while 63% of the supply will be distributed via community-driven events, …
Blockchain data provider Nansen has announced the upcoming integration of the Arbitrum network to enable its global users, both retail and institutional-grade, the ability to identify emerging trends in the decentralized finance (DeFi) market. Technical charts and quantitative data will be accessible to view within a bespoke Arbitrum dashboard, akin to the more than 100 million data points across Ethereum, Polygon and Binance Smart Chain, among others. One of Nansen’s tools is Smart Money, a function that tracks the wallet addresses of hedge funds, institutional investments and whales, collating their activity into a visual graphic that enables users to determine …
The total value locked (TVL) on Ethereum layer two (L2) networks has surged to a new peak as gas fees continue to steadily rise. Layer 2 analytics platform L2beat currently reports that the total amount of ETH locked across various L2 protocols and networks has reached an all-time high of $5.64 billion. L2 scaling solutions provide much higher transaction throughput and lower transaction fees, and they have surged in terms of adoption in November which has seen the highest average gas fees in Ethereum network history. Today, Binance announced the integration of the Arbitrum One core network and opened Ether (ETH) deposits on the Arbitrum One Layer 2. Arbitrum is a third-generation layer-2 optimistic rollup protocol that runs on an off-chain Ethereum contract and lowers costs and speeds up transactions than on the Ethereum mainnet. The announcement notes that Binance users can now deposit any ERC-20 token from the Ethereum network with Arbitrum at a reduced transaction cost. In addition, Binance also stated that it will enable ETH withdrawals on the Arbitrum One Network Layer 2 in the near future, making it one of the first …
South Korea’s nonfungible token (NFT) space has rapidly expanded throughout 2021 led by the growth of crypto and NFT services offered by Kakao, but competitors are entering the fray. The NFT market in South Korea could be on a path for even more expansion following the Nov. 5 government ruling that NFT purchases will not incur taxes. Klaytn, the blockchain developed by Korean tech startups Kakao and GroundX, is the obvious first choice for Koreans searching for a network to buy and sell NFT’s. Klaytn’s market dominance in Korea is unrivaled as KakaoTalk, Kakao’s flagship products suite, has over 52 …
Boson Protocol is a decentralized commerce protocol that seeks to enable the sale of physical goods, services and experiences in the Metaverse as nonfungible tokens (NFTs), and hopes to provide an infrastructure layer for exchanging assets of non-monetary value. For example, an NFT of a pair of sneakers bought using the Boson Protocol in the Metaverse would then be redeemable for that physical pair of sneakers in the real world, and vice versa. Ahead of the launch of its first Metaverse commerce experience in Decentraland, called Boson Portal, Cointelegraph spoke with Justin Banon, co-founder of Boson Protocol, to learn more …
Decentralized exchange, or DEX, and self-custody wallet platform, Portal, has announced a strategic partnership agreement with layer-2 blockchain network, Polygon to advance Bitcoin functionality in the decentralized finance, or DeFi, market. Portal currently offers fully decentralized on-chain spot and options trading, as well as peer-to-peer lending and borrowing. This partnership is expected to expand these user capabilities through the enablement of zero-knowledge swap functionalities for wBTC/BTC as well as POS/WBTC to BTC, in addition to Polygon operating a liquidity-supporting node on Portal DEX. Portal's principle objective is to cultivate a self-governing, anonymous and uncensored ecosystem for Bitcoin on DeFi. The …
Altseason rumors are on the rise on Nov. 9 as altcoins capitalize on Bitcoin's move to a new all-time high and the ensuing consolidation that tends to occur after (BTC) pulls back to retest underlying support levels. As is often the case when Bitcoin has pullbacks during a bull market, some of the outflows find their way into the altcoin market and the chart below shows this dynamic is at play today. Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that the biggest gainers over the past 24-hours were Livepeer (LPT), Loopring (LRC) and Keep3rV1 (KP3R). Livepeer co-hosts COLLIDE Livepeer …
