Vietnam leads crypto adoption in Finder's 27-country survey
Emerging economies like Vietnam, India and Indonesia are leading the charge when it comes to cryptocurrency adoption, underscoring important use cases for digital assets tied to remittances and financial inclusion. Finder’s survey of 42,000 people across 27 countries revealed that Vietnam had the highest adoption rate, with 41% of respondents claiming they had purchased cryptocurrency. US miner raises $105M to recycle waste coal into crypto
The Pennsylvania-based Stronghold Digital Mining has announced the completion of two private equity securities raises worth $105 million. According to an announcement shared with Cointelegraph, the firm’s first power generation facility, the Scrubgrass Generation Plant in Venango County, converts waste coal into energy on a scale equivalent to “a large-scale hydropower plant” that is then used to mine Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The waste coal recycled by Stronghold was produced by coal mining operations in the 19th and 20th century. Listed firm sells $14M of shares for 1 EH/s in Bitcoin mining power
The Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin (BTC) mining company Bit Digital has announced it will issue $13.9 million in shares in exchange for mining hardware. According to a Nov. 11 announcement, Bit Digital has inked asset-purchase agreements with non-U.S. investors to issue 4,344,711 shares valued at $3.20 each in exchange for Bitcoin miners boasting a combined hash power of 1,000 petahashes per second, or 1 exahash per second. Nevada-based cryptocurrency mining firm Marathon Patent Group has announced the purchase of 10,000 Antminer S-19 Pro ASICs as part of its plan to become the largest mining firm in North America. DCG’s Foundry to finance Bitmain customers in North America
China’s crypto mining giant Bitmain has entered a new partnership to streamline its operations in North America. As Bitmain officially announced on Sept. 10, the company has officially partnered with Foundry, a wholly-owned crypto mining subsidiary of major cryptocurrency firm, Digital Currency Group, or DCG. Within the partnership, Foundry will provide financing to Bitmain’s end customers in North America. According to Bitmain, obtaining financing is more difficult for crypto miners than for firms in other industries. US Firm Announces Installation of 700 Mining ASICs With More on the Way
United States firm, Marathon Patent Group, announced that it installed 700 units of Bitcoin (BTC) mining application-specific integrated circuit, or ASIC, units. According to a June 3 announcement, Marathon Patent Group installed 700 Whatsminer M30S+ ASICs produced by MicroBT. The company is also reportedly waiting for a delivery of 1,160 AntminerS19 Pro units produced by leading mining ASIC producer, BitMain. Canadian Terminal Operator Joins Maersk and IBM's TradeLens
Global Container Terminals (GCT), a container terminal operator in North America, has joined Maersk and IBM's blockchain shipping tool TradeLens. Poll: 8% of North American Retailers Will Adopt Bitcoin in 2015
An American survey conducted by the Boston Retail Partners, suggests that 8% of North American retailers are planning on accepting Bitcoin within 12 months, and 5% within 1 to 3 years.
