Notes From the Brink: Reasons Behind the Crypto Bear Market
This article does not contain investment advice or recommendations. Every investment and trading move involves risk, you should conduct your own research when making a decision. Crypto is notoriously a “tough neighbourhood,” as even evergreen Bitcoin bull Tom Lee has put it. After a week in which double-digit losses wreaked havoc on many high-profile cryptos, and Bitcoin (BTC) momentarily fell through the $6,000 support, pitiless bearish sentiment has been circling, with some accusing the top coin of being “exhibit A” in a “permanently impaired or even game‐over” market. While Bitcoin may have posted 2018 lows, Ethereum (ETH) also plummeted to …

Together with one of Bitcoin.com’s lead developers Corbin Fraser, Ver hinted in the video at that the advent of the Wormhole Cash protocol, which allows for token creation on Bitcoin Cash, would afford new possibilities. “For better or worse, ICOs and CryptoKitties are probably coming to Bitcoin Cash in the near future,” Fraser had said, to which Ver responded: “They’re probably coming to Bitcoin.com, too. Bitnation, Liberland, Puertopia and Other Micronations Are Gaining Independence via Crypto, but Crypto Alone May Not Be Enough
Ever since the "decentralised borderless voluntary nation” Bitnation was founded in July 2014, a slowly growing raft of startups and organisations have been attempting to seize cryptocurrencies as an opportunity to build entirely new nations from the ground up. Whether it be the landlocked Liberland or the seaborne Floating Island Project, they've taken cryptocurrencies and blockchains as the basis for a new way of organising how people live, interact and work. And even if they've approached the same fundamental task from varying angles, they all regard the decentralisation of crypto as a potential liberator from the top-down control of central …

Winklevoss Twins Become First Official Bitcoin Billionaires
They say that revenge is a dish best served cold - in this case, perhaps with a side of Bitcoin? While Mark Zuckerberg’s stake in Facebook has made him one of the richest men in the world, his rivals, the Winklevoss twins, found another way to become billionaires. The twins sued Zuckerberg in 2011 and received a $65 mln payout. While that number was paltry in comparison to the company’s worth, it was enough to take the twins’ net worth past the billion dollar mark. According to The Telegraph the twins invested $11 mln of the payout in Bitcoin in …

The New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) yesterday released the third and final revisions to its BitLicense legislation. Two previous versions of the regulations received much criticism and the third is no different. Here are some Bitcoin community reactions to the updated NY BitLicense: Jesse Powell, co-founder and CEO, Kraken: “The heavy compliance costs on digital currency exchanges will make it much more difficult to operate a profitable exchange in the state. Many fear it will stifle innovation in …

On February 3, the ICE Totally Gaming Conference 2015, dubbed “the largest and most comprehensive trade event in gaming,” dedicated a whole day of seminars on “Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies” - a noteworthy move in itself considering that there was just one panel at last year’s event. Libertarians: ‘Bitcoin’s Biggest Threat’?
On December 9, investment writer Martin Tiller wrote for NASDAQ that the biggest danger to Bitcoin comes from libertarians who will “hurt the very cause that they are championing.” He argued in the article, entitled “The Biggest Dangers to Bitcoin Come from Proponents, Not Opponents,” that those who speak out against Bitcoin aren’t the ones who hurt it. We all know the “tired objections” about “bad actors” who “latch onto” Bitcoin, he says. If the digital currency fails, it will be due to those who support it: “What is probably the greatest danger to the future of Bitcoin, and maybe …
