AVAX traders anticipate a new ATH even as Avalanche DApp use slows
Avalanche (AVAX) jumped 43.8% between March 14 and March 31 to a $97.50 daily close, which is the highest level since Jan. 5. This layer-1 scaling solution uses a proof-of-stake model and has amassed $9 billion in total value locked (TVL) deposited on the network’s smart contracts. Subnet adoption propels the recent price rally Some analysts attribute the rally to Avalanche’s incentive program to accelerate the adoption of subnets which was announced on March 9. According to the Avalanche Foundation, subnets enable functions that are only possible with “network-level control and open experimentation.” The program will allocate up to four …

Inside the blockchain developers’ mind: What is the ultimate scaling solution?
Cointelegraph is following the development of an entirely new blockchain from inception to the mainnet and beyond through its series, Inside the Blockchain Developer’s Mind, written by Andrew Levine of Koinos Group. Scalability is a popular topic in blockchain, but few ever explain what we mean by that term. When we at Koinos Group talk about scaling what we mean is scaling to the masses. Creating a blockchain that everyone on Earth can use. That means the blockchain network has to be able to support that level of load, which is typically what people mean when they refer to scalability. …

Axie Infinity (AXS) price reverses course with 50%+ gain ahead of Origin launch
Play-to-earn (P2E) gaming was one of the hottest sectors in the cryptocurrency market in 2021 and based off the recent moves of Yuga Labs and Bored Ape Yacht Club, the gaming industry could continue to be a winner in 2022. Axie Infinity was the first game to really capture widespread attention and highlight the possibilities of what P2E had to offer and it is continuing to lead the way in 2022 as the protocol prepares for its next major launch. Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that the price of AXS increased 56.5% over the past ten days …

Blockchain 4.0 technology introduces solutions for scalability, transaction speed, throughput
Although there is no single metaverse concept, current propositions have one thing in common. That is, they rely on blockchain's ledger technology as their foundation. With the blockchain, the metaverse can exist without a formal owner, allowing each participant to shape the realities of a digital realm. While the peer-to-peer network makes sense in theory, the current trilemma presents a hurdle that must be overcome to make the metaverse a reality. In the blockchain trilemma, the third and often missing component to a decentralized future is scalability, which without it, results in slow transaction speeds and reduced throughput, each of …

Optimism saves users $1B in fees, raises $150M in Series B
Popular Ethereum scaling solution Optimism has announced a $150 million Series B funding round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Paradigm at a total valuation of $1.65 billion. According to a blog post from Optimism, the Layer 2 (L2) solution has saved users of the Ethereum network over $1 billion in gas fees. The funding will be used to expand the Optimism team and go towards working on reducing network fees even further. Fees on the Optimism network were reduced by a cumulative 30% last year, and now the team is contributing work towards an Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP-4844) for …

ETH derivatives show pro traders are worried about Ethereum’s $2.5K support
Ether (ETH) investors are having a rough time in 2022, with ETH accumulating 25% losses year-to-date as of March 17. Still, the cryptocurrency has bounced multiple times near $2,500 over the past couple of months, signaling a solid support level. On March 15, Ethereum developer Tim Beiko announced that the Kiln testnet — formerly Ethereum 2.0 — successfully passed the Ethereum “Merge.” The process involves taking Ethereum’s Execution Layer from the existing proof-of-work layer and merging it with the Consensus Layer from the Beacon Chain. The end goal is to turn the blockchain into a proof-of-stake network. The United States …

Polygon’s focus on building L2 infrastructure outweighs MATIC’s 50% drop from ATH
After a devastating 50% correction between Dec. 25 and Jan. 25, Polygon (MATIC) has been struggling to sustain the $1.40 support. While some argue this top-15 coin has merely adjusted after a 16,200% gain in 2021, others point to competing scaling solutions growth. Either way, Polygon (MATIC) remains 50.8% below its all-time high at an $11 billion market capitalization. Currently, the market cap of Terra (LUNA) stands at $37 billion, Solana (SOL) is above $26 billion, and Avalanche (AVAX) is at a $19 billion market value. A positive note is that Polygon raised $450 million on Feb. 7, and the …

Bitcoin transaction fees briefly doubled yet remain exceptionally low
Got some Satoshi to send or Bitcoin (BTC) wallets to reorganize? It’s increasingly cheap to do so. According to an Arcane Research report, Bitcoin “transaction fees have stayed low since July 2021, showing no signs of rising.” There was, however, a small bump in transaction fees last week. Shown as a small jump at the tail end of the graph, clustering of the mempool pushed “up the average transaction fees per day over the past seven days to $691,000, a doubling since last Tuesday.” Nonetheless, the doubling in transaction fees is insignificant: transaction fees remained in a low range. Miners …

Ethereum price finally topped $3K, but data suggests a reversal is nowhere in sight
There is an old saying in traditional markets which is actually more like a trading rule. It goes, “when the trend is negative, one can only be neutral or short,” meaning bet on the price decrease. The problem is that a relief bounce tricks traders into believing that the negative prevailing sentiment has shifted into a buyers’ market. For example, after analyzing Ether's (ETH) price chart, one might conclude that after a 41% crash, a bull run should be ignited sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, this is a bit of a fallacy because markets can exist in periods of non-definition …

StarkNet now open for DApp deployment on Ethereum mainnet
StarkNet, the Layer-2 scaling solution established by StarkWare, announced that the first few decentralized apps (DApps) built on the platform have been deployed since it launched on the Ethereum Mainnet in November. StarkWare shared the nine projects listed by zkRollups, a digital directory for the zero-knowledge ecosystem, in a Twitter thread. The list ranges from decentralized finance (DeFi) to nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and gaming applications. 2 key Bitcoin price metrics suggest BTC is primed to reclaim $40,000
Cryptocurrencies had a volatile week after Bitcoin's (BTC) sudden crash to $33,000 on Jan. 24. However, the sharp 9% drop fully recovered within 8 hours after BTC price regained the $36,000 support. On Jan. 26, Bitcoin rallied to $38,960 but it could not sustain the level and corrected by 8.8% in the following 8 hours. When factoring in the recent ups and downs, Bitcoin managed to only gain a meager 1.6% over the past seven days. Even with the considerable price swings, the aggregate futures contracts liquidations were relatively low. Longs (buyers) had $570 million futures terminated, while shorts (sellers) …

Litecoin is finally launching its major Mimblewimble upgrade
After two years of development, Litecoin (LTC) has finally launched its highly anticipated Mimblewimble upgrade, opening the door to more privacy-oriented transactions on the network. Mimblewimble’s integration into Litecoin came by way of the Mimblewimble Extension Block, also known as MWEB, which allows the network’s users to opt-in to confidential transactions. MWEB lead developer David Burkett, who has been sponsored by the Litecoin Foundation, said the upgrade improves Litecoin’s viability as a fungible currency that can be used for everyday transactions, pay employee salaries and even purchase real estate. Mimblewimble is a privacy-focused decentralized protocol that derives its name from …
