Major Swiss Telecoms Firm Swisscom to Distribute Tokenized Artwork
Major Swiss telecommunications company Swisscom announced its plans to distribute tokenized artwork through its Swisscom TV television network. The news was reported by Cointelegraph auf Deutsch on May 24. Hackers Steal $100,000+ Worth of BTC From Engineering Manager at Crypto Custodian BitGo
Sean Coonce, engineering manager at cryptocurrency custodian BitGo, announced that he has fallen victim to a SIM swapping hack in a Medium post published on May 20. According to the post, Coonce had over $100,000 siphoned out of his account on cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase in under 24 hours. In his post, Coone details SIM swapping, a practice that sees the attacker maliciously requesting a telecommunications carrier to redirect the traffic of a mobile phone number to a device over which they have control. US Blockchain Investor Terpin Awarded Over $75 Million in SIM Swapping Case
United States blockchain and crypto investor Michael Terpin has won $75.8 million in a civil case against 21-year-old Nicholas Truglia, who reportedly defrauded him of crypto assets. Reuters reported the news on May 10. Per the report, the California Superior Court last week ordered Manhattan resident Truglia to pay the amount above in compensatory and punitive damages. The amount is reportedly one of the largest court judgments awarded to an individual in the crypto space thus far, Reuters notes. Major international Indian technology company Tech Mahindra will be implementing an anti-spam call solution powered by blockchain, Indian business daily Business Today reports on May 2. This solution will allow phone companies to comply with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)'s regulations to protect mobile phone subscribers from unsolicited Commercial Communication (UCC), which will come into effect in the last week of May.
