Here's how Bitcoin pro traders plan to profit from BTC’s eventual pop above $20K
Bitcoin (BTC) entered an ascending channel in mid-September and has continued to trade sideways activity near $19,500. Due to the bullish nature of the technical formation and a drop in sell pressure from troubled miners, analysts expect a price increase over the next couple of months. Independent analyst @el_crypto_prof noted that BTC's price formed a "1-2-3 Reversal-Pattern" on a daily time frame, hinting that $20,000 could flip to support soon. $BTC #Bitcoin Yes, the price action of $BTC is really boring, isn't it? But if you look closely, a textbook "1-2-3 Reversal-Pattern" has formed in the last few days, which …

NFTs will be ‘as disruptive’ as Bitcoin was 10 years ago — Kraken exec
Non-fungible token (NFT) trading volumes may have dropped nearly 98% since January, but several industry executives tell Cointelegraph it's nothing to fear as the technology continues to develop and mature. Jonathon Miller, managing director of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken in Australia said “despite NFT market activity and sales volume having slowed down in September, we are still seeing positive adoption signals at an institutional level and continued growth in use cases.” He told Cointelegraph that the company remains “bullish on the NFT space” and believes it will be “just as disruptive and innovative as Bitcoin was 10 years ago," and said …

Crypto markets to see ‘explosive volatility’ soon: Arcane Research
After weeks of reduced volatility, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) are likely to see sharp price changes in the short to medium term, according to one analyst. The current situation in cryptocurrency markets could potentially generate “explosive volatility” due to massive leverage and recent low volatility, Arcane Research analyst Vetle Lunde suggested. Lunde pointed to “leverage bonanza,” or leverage going parabolic in the crypto derivatives market, while Bitcoin has continued to hover around $19,000 over the past few weeks. In crypto trading, leverage refers to using borrowed funds to make trades in order to profit bigger through contracts like perpetual swaps. …

As bear market bites, crypto project vows to level the playing field
It's a turbulent time to be involved in crypto. Digital assets across the board have been hit hard — with Bitcoin and Ether falling by more than 65% from recent all-time highs. While it's tempting to conclude this is a crypto-specific problem, with the bubble bursting in an asset class known for its volatility, zooming out helps to provide crucial context. The stock market is having a torrid time too — rocked by a lethal cocktail of surging inflation, rising interest rates, and conflict in Ukraine. Back in the summer of 2021, the best strategy for crypto enthusiasts was simple: …

Customer support staff swamped during market swings — exchange execs
Crypto market turbulence can be an immensely stressful time for customer support staff at crypto exchanges, with companies vastly bolstering headcounts just to meet demand during surges. Speaking to Cointelegraph, Alex Harper, co-founder and CEO of Australian crypto exchange SwyftX said that “no matter what your role title is [...] no one was above customer support at Swyft." He said that he, along with staff members from human resources and the CFO have had to work late into the night on occasion to assist their customer support teams when markets go crazy, explaining: “Elon Musk quotes posts about Dogecoin, you …

Bitcoin traders expect sharp volatility, here’s how to profit from it
Analysts who closely monitor traditional markets have started calling for a volatility spike in cryptocurrencies due to dire macroeconomic conditions. Signs of stress coming from credit markets took investors by surprise after the British pound hit a record low against the U.S. dollar on Sept. 26 and liquidity concerns surrounding major global banks like Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank are boosting traders’ bearish sentiments. According to the Labor Department, unemployment in the United States reached 3.5% in September, the lowest in 43 years. Although that might sound positive at first mention, it indicates that the economy continued to overheat despite …

Bitcoin’s 60% year-to-date correction looks bad, but many stocks have dropped by even more
Bitcoin’s (BTC) and Ether’s (ETH) agonizing 60% and 66% respective drop in price is drawing a lot of criticism from crypto critics and perhaps this is deserved, but there are also plenty of stocks with similar, if not worse performances. The sharp volatility witnessed in crypto prices is partially driven by major centralized yield and lending platforms becoming insolvent, Three Arrows Capital’s bankruptcy and a handful of exchanges and mining pools facing liquidity issues. For cryptocurrencies, 2022 has definitely not been a good year, and even Tesla sold 75% of its Bitcoin holdings in Q2 at a loss. The quasi-trillion …

Bitcoin still dominates total payments on BitPay despite the bear market
The cryptocurrency bear market has had an impact on how people pay with crypto, but Bitcoin (BTC) remains a major payment tool despite huge volatility, according to data from BitPay. The share of Bitcoin payments in the total BitPay transactions has been shrinking amid the ongoing cryptocurrency winter, but it’s still the most popular cryptocurrency for payments on the platform. The sales volumes of Bitcoin-based payments on BitPay accounted for as much as 87% last year and dropped to 52% in the first quarter of 2022 amid the bear market, BitPay’s vice president of marketing Merrick Theobald told Cointelegraph. In …

Bitcoin’s in a bear market, but there are plenty of good reasons to keep investing
Let's rewind the tape to the end of 2021 when Bitcoin (BTC) was trading near $47,000, which at the time was 32% lower than the all-time high. During that time, the tech-heavy Nasdaq stock market index held 15,650 points, just 3% below its highest ever mark. Comparing the Nasdaq's 75% gain between 2021 and 2022 to Bitcoin's 544% positive move, one could assume that an eventual correction caused by macroeconomic tensions or a major crisis, would lead to Bitcoin’s price being disproportionately impacted than stocks. Eventually, these “macroeconomic tensions and crises” did occur and Bitcoin price plunging another 57% to …

What is a gold-backed token and how does it work?
What is a gold-backed cryptocurrency? A gold-backed cryptocurrency is a type of digital currency that is backed by physical gold. The currency’s value is based on the current market price of gold and can be used for transactions just like any other type of cryptocurrency. Some cryptocurrencies are backed by gold in order to tie the derivative asset (crypto) to a tangible asset (gold), thereby preventing excessive fluctuations in price. Thus, gold-backed cryptocurrency is often more stable than other digital currencies. This is because the price of gold is generally less volatile than the prices of other assets, such as …

Moody’s downgrades Coinbase due to bear market: Warns it may not be the last
Credit ratings agency Moody’s has downgraded the Corporate Family Rating (CFR) and guaranteed senior unsecured notes of crypto exchange Coinbase, stating that both ratings have been placed under review for further downgrade. The CFR, a rating assigned to reflect Moody’s opinion of a company’s ability to honor its financial obligations, was downgraded from Ba2 to Ba3, which is considered below non-investment grade. Senior unsecured notes are a type of debt a company holds that is not backed by any assets and, in the event of bankruptcy, must be repaid before any others. Moody’s downgraded Coinbase from Ba1 to Ba2. Earlier …
