Blockchain redefines the framework for IP with architecture fit for Web3
Looking at our world today, there is no shortage of ideas, with new ideas coming up every day, nay, every hour. But, ideas are much more powerful than they seem on the surface. Consider that with some funding and the help of a strategic team, an idea can become something real –– a new technology or a solution to a major world problem. With so much value on the line, it is no secret that it becomes a human tendency to want recognition for ideas. Unfortunately, it is not often the original idea creator that gets the credit and history …

Olyverse offers new concept of experiential NFTs: Nonfungible Stories (NFSs)
Over the last century, motion pictures have provided a two-dimensional experience, bringing some of the world's most told stories to life. Unfortunately, despite their ability to breathe life into the written word, movies have traditionally originated with a centralized heritage guided by institutions that monopolize the creation of these stories. As technology shifts from a centralized to a decentralized model, the world has learned that how films are financed, produced and distributed is changing in a way that connects fans and stars with the same passion for culture. Under this new model of Web3, contributions are placed in users' own …

Consensus 2022: Web3, unpacking regulations, and optimism for crypto’s future
“Everything is bigger in Texas” proved to be true during Consensus 2022. The crypto conference took place June 9–12 in Austin, Texas, this year, attracting over 20,000 people from across the globe, despite the 100-degree plus weather. According to the event sponsors, Consensus 2018, which was held at the Hilton Hotel in New York, had previously drawn in almost 9,000 attendees. Caitlin Long, CEO of Custodia — the Wyoming-based digital asset bank — told Cointelegraph that the event this year speaks volumes. “New York has sent a lot of this industry fleeing to places like Austin, Wyoming and Miami. It …

Secure cross-chain communication network leads multichain future with paradigm shift
With more interest in blockchain development comes more technology platforms to develop on. The industry, which started with only a select handful of relevant blockchains in the 2010s, has grown to include hundreds of chains today. The sheer volume of platforms, although offering different benefits, has also shed light on a few unintended consequences, including assets, applications and users siloed in their native blockchains due to the lack of interoperability between platforms. Not surprisingly, ad-hoc solutions have emerged since the problem is far from new. Among them are bridges. In application, bridges store liquidity between two networks, taking wrapped assets …

Axie Infinity: AXS price risks deeper losses despite 90% drawdown already
Axie Infinity (AXS) has dropped by roughly 90% after peaking out at $172 in November 2021. AXS’s sharp correction has made it one of the worst-performing digital assets among the top-ranking cryptocurrencies. Moreover, it could undergo further declines in the coming months, according to a mix of technical and fundamental catalysts listed below. Low player count dampens AXS demand To recap, AXS serves as a settlement token within Axie Infinity’s gaming ecosystem, allowing players to purchase native nonfungible tokens (NFTs), a flurry of digital pets called Axies. It also acts as a work token that players can spend to breed …

Innovation in fiat on-ramps can overcome crypto’s expensive card fees
Being in crypto is all about taking an intelligent view towards money. We know that Bitcoin (BTC) is the future, both as a store of value and also as a means of payment, as layer 2 solutions such as the Lightning Network begin to flourish. It is, therefore, vital that every cryptocurrency user makes sure that they always obtain the most competitive price for every service. While millions of crypto users convert fiat to crypto using a debit or credit card, this is by no means a low-cost choice. Paying the overhead: Converting fiat to crypto According to The Motley …

Jack Dorsey is building ‘Web5’ powered by Bitcoin
Block subsidiary TBD has announced plans to build a new decentralized web centered around Bitcoin (BTC), underscoring founder Jack Dorsey’s belief that the largest blockchain network will play a major role in the internet’s evolution. The new project, called “Web5,” represents the latest Bitcoin-centric endeavor to be pursued by Dorsey since stepping down as CEO of Twitter in November 2021. Whereas Web3 incorporates blockchain technology and tokenization to decentralize the internet, Web5 is being envisioned as an identity-based system that only utilizes one blockchain: Bitcoin. Twitter user Namcios broke down the concept of Web5 in a series of tweets that …

MetaBrewSociety to offer voting rights over a brewery via NFTs and DAO
Munich-based MetaBrewSociety (MBS) will soon offer voting rights on the business decisions of a physical brewery via nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). The MBS was formed in February this year by a group of beer-loving NFT investors and entrepreneurs who came up with the idea of combining a brewery with the Metaverse, a DAO and NFTs to create a “tangible IRL utility that carries a concrete value” for participants. As part of the project, MBS will offer a range of tokenized “beer share” certificates that provide varying levels of governance rights over a physical brewery in …

Beyond the hype: NFTs can lead the way in transforming business experiences
Many businesses and big brands have already jumped on the nonfungible token (NFT) bandwagon, including Nike, the National Basketball Association, Pepsi and even Taco Bell. But are these just for the show, or are these NFTs creating value? Much like digital services have become essential for every business in and outside of the technology sector, I believe that tokens — and, specifically, NFTs — are likely to become equally crucial in the emerging Web3 economy for at least two reasons. First, my view is that NFTs tokenize ideas at the atomistic level, creating rivalry and exclusivity around goods or services. …

Web3 is crucial for data sovereignty in the metaverse
Wandering around the metaverse is like being in a computer game, but soon, it will look exactly like real life. Unlike some dystopian visions of the metaverse, I don’t think we will give up on reality and stop participating in the physical world. On the other hand, advancements in artificial intelligence content generation will likely lead to a photo-realistic metaverse featuring exact replicas of ourselves and propel us toward a hyper-reality that combines our real-world and digital lives. Everything we do today on the internet will happen in the metaverse, just with a more engaging visual interface. The virtual content …
