YouTuber claims he'll buy 111 Tesla Model 3s... if Elon Musk accepts Bitcoin Cash
A Bitcoin Cash (BCH) YouTuber has promised to buy 111 Tesla Model 3s … but only if Tesla CEO Elon Musk agrees to accept BCH for Tesla purchases from now on. Going by the title “1stmil.com,” the Australian YouTuber explained to almost 8,000 followers over three short videos that he believes Tesla would see a boost in sales as a result as there are many Bitcoin Cash supporters who want to spend their cryptocurrency, whereas Bitcoin (BTC) supporters tend to want to hang on to their holdings. “You will enjoy unbelievable amount of support by people who actually want to …

Toddler hodler: 3-year-old Bitcoin educator interviews Michael Saylor
Three-year-old Lily Knight, “the world’s youngest Bitcoin educator,” interviewed billionaire MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor for her YouTube channel in a video that dropped on Tuesday. In the interview, Knight noted that Saylor’s accumulation of more than $2 billion worth of Bitcoin since August 2020 had been a “ballsy move.” The toddler and unconfirmed “hodler” became something of a viral sensation in the crypto space in mid-February after she (aided by her parents) published a video explaining Bitcoin’s dynamics using Skittles candy. The video caught the attention of Saylor and fellow crypto billionaire Tyler Winklevoss, and both retweeted the video. Winklevoss …

A new era of content monetization? Blockchain tech can get you paid
By doing so, they have helped regular people become known celebrities, many of whom now hold more influence than TV networks and print media outlets. The same can be said for music streaming services like Spotify and iTunes, which now allow musicians to skip record label deals and simply upload their songs directly to platforms through services like DistroKid and others. While these are amazing feats, to say the least, the model still needs to be improved. According to Jack Cheng, co-founder of GazeTV — a blockchain-based social entertainment platform: “Content creators don’t have many choices until they are famous …

Is Theta worth the hype? Theta price volatile ahead of mainnet launch
There’s no denying the fact that Theta is one of the most discussed cryptocurrency projects on the market in 2021, so much so that the Theta token has already made its way into the top 10 list of cryptocurrencies by overall market capitalization, in what feels like almost no time at all. In its most basic sense, Theta can be thought of as a decentralized video streaming platform that has been built using a blockchain framework. The platform seeks to mitigate many of the problems being faced by the traditional video streaming sector, allowing for the relay of high-quality video …

Blockchain protocol gets patent in quest to stop ‘fake views’ on videos
A blockchain protocol says its goal is to significantly increase engagement for video publishers — and deliver a much-needed boost to their advertising revenues. Verasity’s proof-of-view protocol, which has been rewarded with a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (#10956931), ensures that views recorded on video platforms are genuine — delivering “accurate, secure, real and transparent” audience metrics recorded on the blockchain. The project’s quest against “fake views” aims to tackle concerns that viewership figures are often inflated, meaning advertisers end up paying for publicity they didn’t actually receive. Some estimates suggest that over 50% of the cash …

Ripple ends YouTube lawsuit over XRP giveaway scams, says CEO
Ripple has ended its lawsuit against YouTube for the social media platform’s alleged complicity in a spate of fake XRP giveaway scams, CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced on March 9. Ripple and Garlinghouse filed a lawsuit against YouTube LLC in April 2020, claiming that the platform itself had profited from the fraudulent activity, and that it had failed to exercise its administrative powers to stop it. Garlinghouse announced on Twitter on March 9: “Last year, @Ripple and I sued @YouTube for failing to enforce its own policies by allowing fake accounts (impersonating my/Ripple’s verified accounts) to conduct XRP giveaway scams. We’ve …

Cyberpunk 2077’s dystopian future can be avoided with blockchain tech
The long-awaited video game Cyberpunk 2077 came out as an unfinished product with a bunch of technical flaws, but that doesn’t stop it from being one of the most important cultural phenomenons of recent years. And while some gamers are asking for refunds and the developers are hurriedly working on patches, I suggest we look at the enormously rich video game setting. The picture is not very nice — this world is a real centralized hell. In the fictional world of Cyberpunk 2077, blockchain technology either never existed or was never massively implemented. This is a world where full-scale decentralization …
